Cold Start Running Video

The car has been running now for a little bit but I’ve been busy working on other things so I haven’t posted this. This is a completely cold start just jumped in and started it on a basically untuned vipec v88. Base tune is done now and the car starts perfect cold or hot and drives great under 4k rpms. Need to get it to the dyno to get a good tune. The video is showing the QuickTime performance cutout and how quiet the car is with the full exhaust now.

Homebrew: Habanero Infused Tequila

Since I brew my own beer I decided I may as well spice up my margaritas as well. So I picked up a bottle of tequila to try a habanero infusion in. I love habanero I use them in my salsa, hot sauce ect. but knowing how quickly they can get out of hand I decided to only use 2 and I seeded them to hopefully get some more flavor without the insane spicy. I’ll give it 3 days to infuse and then strain it and give it a try.

Chassis Wiring Pt.2

Today at lunch I started on the rest of the chassis side wiring since the engine side is all finished up now. Fuel pump, ignition switch and everything else needed to get the car running is already done now I’m just working on lights and accessories. Here is how far I got in 40 min or so at lunch. Probably just keep plugging away on it at lunch till everything is wired. This is door harnesses. Power windows, power door locks, speakers, sunroof and dome light.

Intake Pipe

Made this intake pipe real quick for the s13 so I can finalize up the engine bay. It has a fitting for intake air sensor and two -6 fittings for IACV and PCV.

Homebrew: Pumpkin Ale

Pumpkin Ale is one of my all time favorite beers so I decided to brew up my own version. This recipe will probably be a work in progress but I think it’s a good starting point. Also racked the Grand Cru that I previously brewed tonight and added the sorbate to the cider so I can rack it sometime this week.

Chassis Wiring

Started on the new chassis harness today. I really hate stock harness they are usually over complicated and ugly. This car is a little more hassle since it will retain power locks, windows, and sunroof as well as DCC and a/c heater plus all of the required items. So I made up this little fuse panel/relay panel that fits in the passenger foot well so I can start wiring up the car. It uses a stock super multiple junction connector de-pinned of the extra wires I don’t need. This makes it super easy to remove the car as I can just unbolt all the wiring with one bolt. Here is what it looks like in progress and all finished up.

Exhaust Y-Pipe and Cutout

The exhaust build begins! I started with vibrant stainless steel exhaust flanges, then made my own y-pipe to bring the dual 3″ pipes into one 3.5″ pipe. Since this is a street car I’m trying to keep it as quiet as possible but I want to be able to enjoy the V8 noises when I want and at the track so I added this QTP 3.5″ electronic cutout. Then after the cutout I reduced it back down to 3″ to mate up with the high flow cat and the rest of the exhaust.

Homebrew: Berry Burst Cider Pt. 2

Today was part 2 of the berry burst cider experiment. I bought 6lbs of frozen mixed berries and 1lb of strawberries. Let them thaw and then mashed them, after that I put them in grain bags to keep the primary and secondary a little cleaner. I took a gravity reading and it was almost done fermenting just the apple juice so it was a good time to add the berries. I stirred the primary really well to get the yeast active and ready for another fermentation. Then I added the berries and sealed it back up. I’ll take a gravity reading tomorrow and then keep an eye on it I want this to be sweet and not dry so I’m looking for a finished gravity of 1.015 or so and with all the fermentables it should be pretty strong. My guess is 10% or more! I’ll keep you posted with one or two more posts after I kill the yeast and transfer to the secondary and probably again when I pour tap it.

That Moment When You Realize Your Kegerator Isn’t On

Tonight while we were watching Survivor we kept hearing the strangest noise. Then Bryan realized the ice was falling off the walls of the Kegerator because it was 35 degrees (not good for optimal beer stuff.) Bryan took off the access panel and started investigating. Eventually he was able to MacGyver something together and got it working again. Isn’t he neat?
