Skyline Drifter Hot Rod

Well first of all happy near year to everyone! It’s been a
crazy year and an amazing year. Every year I think to myself that I
know everything and then, as another year flies by as if it was
only a month, I realize that I didn’t really know as much as I
thought I did. It’s great to look back and feel like I have learned
so much, I guess a little hard when a lot of those lessons are
learned the hard way but I guess that runs in my family and if you
asked my Mother she would agree it’s definitely the best way to
learn because you will never forget! Well anyway, on to the only
reason you are reading these ramblings. This day was a perfect end
to the year. Woke up early and went to the “hot rod show” in
Pasadena. I guess they get together and cruise the parade circuit
the day before. It was great and I love seeing another car culture,
it always amazes me that no matter what kind of car person you are
a car person is still a car person and you can always find that
common ground. The love of cars spans so many car cultures from
mini trucks, low riders, American muscle and of course the import
scene. Well anyway while sitting there with Nicole’s pops we were
talking about my Skyline as he affectionately calls it my “skyline
drifter hot rod.” Nicole and I thought that was amazing and it
sparked the title to this blog post. Well after the “hot rod show”
Nicole went off to work and I did the same. Put the car on the lift
and after many trips to see my parts guy Steven at Alhambra Nissan
I got the trans installed and the motor back in the car with the
trans bolted on. This way shows the final resting place and let’s
me start mocking up all the fab. I was surprised yet again to see
all the CAS clearance on the 20v CAS but I still hammered the
firewall a little to make it easier to install the motor/trans. I
also spent s little more time on my intake manifold that I have
been working on for the past week but I am going to save that
surprise for when it’s all done. It has been many nights of welding
and porting to keep you interested 🙂 the of course I came home and
started using my “beer machine”. Successfully got my roommate drunk
on margaritas before he left with his girlfriend for his new year
plans and am waiting for Nicole who is on her way home from work. I
couldn’t have asked for a better 2010 and I know that 2011 will be
even more amazing. Hope the same is true for all of you!
