Early Rodders Cruise

On Saturday, Bryan and I went on a cruise with my dad’s car club the Early Rodders. They meet every Saturday at Starbucks on Verdugo. We met up with my Dad and my brother around 8am and checked out the cars. There were all sorts of cars; mostly classics but a few new cars too including the new convertible Camaro and a Galpinized mustang.

We set off in 3 groups of 25 down the 210 East to Legends Restaurant in Glendora. Legends is a fun 50s style diner with cool memorabilia on the walls and an old fashioned jukebox. Dad brought the 1964 Ford Falcon that he has been working on since before I graduated from college. My brother brought his 1965 Mustang fastback. We got to spend some time with my dad’s buddies Ron Miller (owner of the Model T) and our neighbor Albert (owner of the 1938 Ford.) The event had a really good turn out especially when another local car club Cal Rods met up with us at the restaurant.

After brunch we headed out again to the NHRA museum at the Pomona Fairgrounds. They had a ton of cool displays and classic dragsters. Bryan and I raced on this simulation that measures reaction time on a drag strip’s Christmas tree. They also had a fuel consumption simulator that showed the fuel going into the motor at idle and at full racing speed. Pretty crazy stuff!

All in all it was a pretty awesome outing and it was good to hang out with a totally different crowd and spend some time with family.
